Admittedly, I'm still not finished listening to the second week of Mary Anne Hobbs Vs. The Volcano, Or I Got Stranded in LA and All I Got Was This Lousy Podcast, but I suspect that like last week, it will go down as one of her finest shows of the year. Hobbs calls a mix from Leaving Records honcho, Matthewdavid, an early contender for one of 2010's best, and who am I to argue with a woman who enjoys hyperbole and beat music even more than I. Respect due. Of course, this is no surprise, as David is one of the most underrated and excellent members of the greater Low End Theory family. Along with Daddy Kev, he is one of the only men with a ponytail who you can trust. With this week's hype machine deservedly fixated on Flying Lotus, Hobbs' show is a reminder that the talent pool is much deeper than just one man, and serves as a handy introductory guide for neophytes.
