P.O.W. Mix Series, Volume XVII: Daedelus -- "LOVE to make mixes to"
For the 17th installment in the POW mix series, LA beat scene legend Daedelus takes you from Rae Sremmurd to Arthur Russell, Jeremih to the Escorts.
For his first trick, Daedelus fades seaside carnival mellotron sounds into Rae Sremmurd's "Lit Like Bic." From there, the Santa Monica-bred hero of haberdashery lays an old soul reverie from The Moments into the East Flatbush Project. The legerdemain dazzles for 30 more minutes, where asphalt slaps are remixed with pixelated beauty (and vice versa). "Shabba" is laid over the instrumental to Madvillain's "Accordian." If you didn't already know, the accordian sample originally came from Daedelus. He is one of the true originals.
