The new Shots Fired episode on Earwolf examines Chicago rap from Common to Chief Keef and all points in between. Because Nocando and I are Los Angeles bored and bred, we brought in Tal Rosenberg, the online editor of the Chicago Reader and Open Mike Eagle, the South Side-raised online editor of art rap. Or as he is popularly known: the Marc Maron of dark-skinned art barons. The episode description is below the jump, along with the MP3. In this episode, I learned to do the Percolator, which was a very important moment in my life. And by learned to do the percolator, I mean learned that I should not be doing the percolator.

"The Chicago Reader’s Tal Rosenberg and Chicago bred rapper Open Mike Eagle join MC Nocando and Jeff Weiss this week to discuss everything Chicago. The guys talk about the history of Chicago rap starting with rappers like Common & Twista all the way to Chief Keef & King Louie, how House & R&B music dominated Chicago radio, and why rappers rarely blow up in Chicago. Plus, Open Mike Eagle defines words from the Urban Dictionary and we learn how to do the percolator."
